Jason Crane

Jason grew up on a family-owned catfish and cattle farm located in the Tuscaloosa County community of Fosters, Alabama. He attended the University of Alabama where he graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and a minor in English Literature. A President’s and Dean’s List scholar, he was inducted into Sigma Tau Delta (English honorary) and Gamma Beta Phi (honorary). After graduation, he attended Thomas Goode Jones School of Law, where he graduated with a doctor of jurisprudence in 2007. During law school, Jason was the faculty-appointed chair of the Academic Standards Committee, served as president of two different on-campus organizations, and he was an inaugural member of the law school’s Dallas County Teen Court mentoring team. He was a finalist in the 2007 J Greg Allen Trial Competition.

After graduation, Jason accepted a position with a firm in Mobile specializing in the representation of governmental and quasi-governmental entities, where his practice focused primarily on civil defense litigation and related matters . Jason represented and counseled clients in a broad range of matters ranging from employment(ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII), 4th Amendment, 1983, storm water drainage and run-off, to general negligence. He joined Dumas & McPhail in 2012. His practice primarily focuses on the representation of creditors in ejectment proceedings and collections matters and defending creditors from claims under the FDCPA, FCRA, TILA , and RESPA.

Jason is licensed in all Alabama state courts as well as the United States Southern and Middle District Courts for the state of Alabama. He is a contributing member of the Mobile Bar Association, the South Alabama Volunteer Lawyers Association, and the Alabama Disaster Relief Hotline. He is a  member, and past president, of the Spring Hill Baptist Church Child Development Center committee, as well as a Royal Ambassador’s and Second Grade Sunday school teacher.

Jason is married to the former Gretchen McGinnis of Laurel, Mississippi. He and Gretchen are the proud parents of a son, JB, and daughter, Annagrace. They are expecting their third child. In his free time, Jason enjoys reading, live music, Crimson Tide football, Mobile Baybears baseball, and coaching his son’s baseball and soccer teams. He also attends any and all tea parties that his daughter invites him to attend.
